FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP YOUTH COUNCIL (FTYC) plans activities for youth in the community and coordinates projects with community partners. FTYC takes pride in providing great community service!
Youth Council meetings are typically held on the 1st and 3rd
Tuesdays of each month, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Community Senior Center located at 505 DeMott Lane, Somerset NJ
FTYC COMMITTEES
YOUTH & COMMUNITY - Our committee focuses on creating programming that relates to youth and community concerns, issues, and well-being. We organize events and workshops that benefit the Franklin community as a whole.
EDUCATION - The Education Committee strives to create educational community programming that reaches beyond the classroom. Through fun and innovative workshops and events, this committee takes learning to a creative new level.
HEALTH & WELLNESS - The Health & Wellness Committee believes that a healthy you is a better you. This is why we make it our mission to create programming that promotes balanced, healthy living throughout the community.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE & PREVENTION - The Substance Abuse and Prevention (SAP) Committee is focused on educating others about the impact of alcohol and drugs. We create a welcoming and friendly environment for the community to participate in difficult conversations through various activities for all ages.
DIVERSITY - The Diversity Committee organizes events like cultural showcases and workshops to celebrate and educate about various cultures, keeping our community, especially the youth, informed and appreciative of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The FTYC application deadline is: September 23, 2025 4:00PM
TO APPLY: Create a short essay (max 300 words) describing something important about you including your extracurriculars, groups, organizations, leadership positions, interests, hobbies, and strengths. State why you would be a strong asset to the FTYC and how you display dedication and commitment within Franklin Township.
Choose a committee you’re interested in and (using a max of 500 words), design an original FTYC program for the community or a youth group. What would it be, why would you choose it, who is your target audience, and how would you make it successful.
